They problem is what they do to your pool.

They create an awful mess (imagine swimming in a pool with chicken poo in it) and carry algae which is the bane of any pool owner.

When they were hanging out here I let them be as long as the pool cover was on but once the cover was off I had to run them off.
Yes the whole pool thing is an issue so in a way the raccoon was doing me a favor and I can forgive him as he didn't injure Mrs. Duck.
I usually get ducks visiting in early spring but once I open the pool they don't come back. This is the first time I have had nesting with the pool open.
And I can report that duck eggs taste much like backyard chicken eggs only even more 'eggy' and their yolks are HUGE with very little white.

So true, like other water animals they go where they are! This pool looked like it was more of a natural-scape situation.
It looks like a pond but is in fact a swimming pool. The bottom is painted black and it is an irregular shape which is how it looks like a natural pond.
I actually don't cover it in winter so it really acts as a pond for half the year and then opening the pool cleans it up and filters the water so I can swim in it.

Don't hire me as your pool man! gezzz.:th
