This one makes a good house chicken. No noise, no mess, no feathers everywhere, and no 💩(just saying) :thumbsup 4822F6D7-9D00-472A-A46A-9764F2496183.jpeg B5426231-9D57-4754-9A7C-A008D3CC3DC1.jpeg

@cfonts in case you decide to let Kiko sit it out, just keep an eye on her so you know she's taking care of herself at least once every two days. If she gets to three days without moving, pick her up and put her in her usual food spot. She'll wake and eat, drink etc.

Eta: remember, they don't need to eat as much energy when they're sitting most of the day.
Thank you for the info, I've been pulling her away from her nesting area to make sure she eats because I was worried she wasn't getting enough to eat. It's a relief to know that she doesn't need to eat as much. I was starting to get really worried about her.

Mary had a check up last weekend and as the vet picked her up, he said "Far out, she weighs a tonne!" So, I'm thinking letting her sit through her last brooding session (which ended a month ago, roughly) did very little harm, if any.

I do need to start weighing the hens regularly and tracking their weight. The data would be helpful if ever they get sick.

Kiko is my "rescue chick". She goes out into my backyard during the day, but none of the other chickens really interact with her, except for Gizmo (the other chick I rescued who turned out to be a rooster). Gizmo *tried* mating with Kiko once and that didn't go well- she screeched so loud that it scared him and he never tried that ever again 😅 Maybe he'll try again once he gets a little older? None of the feral roosters have access to her.

Kiko is similar to @featherhead007's chooks and likes to sleep indoors in the evenings 😂 She even enjoys watching movies with me!
Oh! Yes I remember now. Sorry, I forgot the details. Now I understand. She is lovely and I hope she looks after herself during her broody time.

Unless I'm much mistaken, she'll also take a bath and relieve herself.

I am trying to learn who is who in your tribe. Is this Lima or one who doesn't have a name yet? She has a bit more white than I remembered on the un-named one on your lap, but not quite as much as I remembered on Lima.
