Altitude means actually migrating, not going from lake to lake or field to field but trying to log some miles. They like a good tailwind, so we had Canadian Geese migrating South late last week when we finally got a good North wind. Good numbers, in two long lines like threads in the sky.
A few days ago we had about 15-20 flying low by here late afternoon, so there I would speculate they were just going from a daytime feeding field to their roosting location for the night.
Oh, I've seen geese on migration before...just not quite this high. These were so high that the Vs looked like a strand of long hair blowing in the wind. I had to search the skies for several minutes to find them. They were easily mistook for ripples on the clouds.

Amazing.
Could you hear them? I usually hear the honking and then look up to see them. Saw a bunch today heading South (don't blame them - brrrr!).

Dad brought over $40 for the two birds Baxter killed. He mentioned that he's been stalking/chasing her for a couple DAYS. Yet he didn't see fit to tell me so I could contain her, this is beyond just a dog opportunistically chasing. If he gets another I will put my foot down and say they need to keep him in the run or rehome him.
He's the one who pushed and pushed for me to have free rangers, so he needs to do the responsible thing by my birds.

Sticky situation you have. I will pray that you can find an answer that pleases you and dad both.

Speaking of issues............

I have started Niamh back on Baytril. Today is day 3 of her tail being down and there is lime green in her poo again like last time.

This is her after being in the house for over 30 minutes. She looks like she does not feel well.

Nothing like a sick chicken for the holidays.

Best of luck with Niamh...Niamh, keep your beak up and get better!

I was shocked by 2 things. 1. Their altitude and 2. Their numbers.

Time of migration not so much. Some years, they're still heading south in mid December.

Rarely see anything flying south that late.

Everyone is gone south even the Snowbirds!

Oh no, glad you spotted it early, thinking good thoughts and praying.

Some dogs are fairly natural flock-temperament pups... but some need very consistent training which a lot of owners can't be bothered concerning the damage their canines can/& do to neighbors. Must be particularly tough when it's a family member's pup ☹️!

My niece’s dog is not allowed anywhere near the horses and chooks. She has already killed 2 of my sisters ducklings a few yrs ago. I personally do not trust her with anything small. Kids included.
