🐔FBA chicken's weekly synopsis
23 to 30 November.

Link to last week's synopsis by Royalchick.

--------------------------------------------------

@BY Bob

Poor Tilly is so afraid of the other chickens she would rather get soaked under the rain ! She spends time with Niamh now.

Adding new chickens doesn't always go smoothly.

A chilling reminder that coopers hawks can reach undercover to hunt.

Niamh is not feeling well again. So, where did she decide to roost ? (Hint : for the first time ever!).
Tilly doesn't like to be away from Niamh, but she isn't confident enough to go inside with her yet.

--------------------------------------------------

@ChicoryBlue

Found a worrying poop : maybe Lizbel, who had issue as a chick ? But it's not consistent and could just be from a pullet about to start laying.

A photoshoot of Mr S. , what a striking youngster !

---------------------------------------------------

@featherhead007

Wonderful news, Elsa is back !

A Spanish neighbour moves = chicken maths hit Alex hard !

What breed could those ten beautiful new birds be ? Possibly black sex links or french copper marans.

They are lost and afraid and require a lot of kindness.

Some more chicken maths could soon occur !

--------------------------------------------------

@Grandma The Chicken

Parmesan keeps photobombing Mozzarella !

--------------------------------------------------

@Labsandchickens8

Had a question about whether aerial criss crossing works to deter hawks ? Woodland hawks (cooper's, red tails) attack through cover, branches and small holes, and won't mind that in the least.
(I have done that in my chicken yard to deter eagles, it works for the big birds but definitely not for smaller hawks).

---------------------------------------------------

@Ponypoor

One of the Noirans is looking for a nest and throwing straw on herself. Could she already be thinking to lay 15 weeks old ?

Petra is a true little hawk !

Multi roosters flock : the boys will challenge each other, but overall it seems to work out.

Snow, snow, go away...one more day out !

----------------------------------------------------

@RoyalChick

Sylvie is a Welbar - technically a welsummer, and certainly a gorgeous hen !

The bubblewrap trick is very effective to isolate windows from the cold.

Mr Chips made a move - on his mum 🤣.

--------------------------------------------------

@rural mouse

Just watch that Flying chicken on her way out 😯 ! And it seems a few other chickens can fly as well as Arabel.

-------------------------------------------------

@Sally PB

The Michigan cold brought them all together- wise chickens !

---------------------------------------------------

@SimpleJenn

A cooper's hawk attacked, no loss thankfully.

Said goodbye to Owl, who attacked kiddo.

Such sad news - her favourite Cinnabun was killed by her father's dog. Jenn's upset at this difficult situation ; it's likely the dog will not stop there if nothing is done.

--------------------------------------------------

@Sylvester017

Some ideas on interrupting aerial space for hawks.

Suzu is finally allowed outside after a long time being a house chicken ! (And introducing new birds can be quite stressful indeed... for their humans too).

-------------------------------------------------

@TOMTE

Molting Esme is cuddly , that's quite unusual for a molting chicken.

Funny how they take so many cues from us, isn't it! My dog likes to snuggle with us at night, but he knows he can't sleep there (we wouldn't get any sleep!), so as soon as I grab my CPAP mask to put on, he jumps down on his own and goes to his crate.....they know/learn routines and cues!!

Gremlin is a cutie pie!

I agree - having a PFM is pretty much a must for me now, my computer is so old that when adds run, it frequently freezes. :(

Glad someone thought of you and was able to afford the gift!

Tax payment please. Now, if it was a chicken park...that comment would have been okay!

I think I need this set-up for my gang!! LOL

Those are the Al Gerhart rat proof feeders like Chicory and I have.
I am very happy with my two.

I thought it was a cute idea except... an ailing or senior bird may not be able to jump or flap up to the platform ~ good way to starve an old bird? I was just thinking about how hard it was for our birds to be mobile when they were getting older/stiffer. I had older birds that could barely walk up an inclined ramp🙁.
