And somehow he got the black tailed red tones....washed in blue with the ink dipped head

Have to say he is a beauty, love his edging on his feathers, and that topknot is just really nice touch - very jaunty

Snow? Why?

Better than months of mud. I'm not asking for feet of the stuff but it's a welcome relief when we do get the odd day or two of snow. A bit more would be nice.

I've had to be really careful about letting the chicks out, even with mum, because there's been slippy thin mud and pools of standing water everywhere that would probably kill them if they fell in. I'd be far less worried about letting them out in snow.

There’s no disrespect worse than being ignored. My new ladies show no interest in the two roosters (Rooster Cogburn and Gizmo) or any of their fancy dancing. It’s pathetic that they keep trying. The ladies stand firm, and just walk away when the dancing starts!

My girls do the same thing. The roosters will do all the things in their playbook but the hens just pretend it didn’t happen and walk the other way What’s a guy gotta do???

Martina/Floyd (Pretty Boy Floyd) was a half polish (Mr P) and half Silkie (Marty). We all thought he was a she until she started crowing.

He was prone to scrapping with the other cockerels until one day he met a tragic demise. The other 5 cockerels where re-homed after that.

Sounds expensive... a dream? or a goal?

Well unless I win the lottery more of a longing. Land/housing there is very expensive. Jobs few and far between. Unless one works in mining etc.

And I would need at least a few acres for chooks and horses.

You need to experience a full Canadian winter - lots of fun

Feet of snow (we get around 5 - 6’ here), freezing cold most every day. It hard work, unless you can pay someone to move it all.
