I was reading a post just the other day of someone with 10 day olds and they said the chicks were starting to fly around. I laughed and figured they must have faster growing breeds or something. My girls at 8 days certainly couldn't fly and SURELY they wouldn't grow their wings out that much more in just TWO DAYS!
Holy Cow! this afternoon they were having contests as to who could fly all the way across the brooder and a couple leaped up almost 2 feet straight up in the air! The brooder walls are only 2 1/2 feet tall.
Looks like I'm going to be figuring out how to cover the thing this weekend.
