So I asked about the genders of some BR from TSC months ago and one bird was atypical. Some folks asked for updated pics of her when she grew up. Since it was warm enough to take pics without breaking the phone, here is Kylie Jenner. (This is what happens when my kid hangs out with chicks, she names them stupid things)

    Is she a Barred Rock?

She's a Grey Ranger, a slower growing alternative to Cornish Cross. Also called Kosher Kings.

Wow I've never even heard of those! Interesting. She's not very big, not even close to the size of the Asia blacks she also came with.

Most of the rangers I'm finding pictures of have big combs and wattles. They are talking 5 pounds, she's 21 weeks and maybe 3.

If that's what she is will she be a decent layer?

They do tend to be good layers.

I learned something today as well, she is beautiful. I hope she can live a normal life unlike the cornish x.

Me too. She's light though, very active, flies a bit, jumps up to 40" roosts. The 14 week old cochins are already her size. So maybe she's a little one, which could be healthier. She sure doesn't live like a meat bird.
