I'm hopefully getting chickens tomorrow, and didn't think of this until now, do you keep the food and water in the coop, or outside in the run?

I keep mine in the coop so they always have access to it.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I keep the chickens' food and water in the coop as well. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

I do the opposite and keep both food and watering stations outside - they free range during daylight hours and at dusk they are already on their roosts. If you are providing light in the coop, then food and water would be necessary indoors.

I keep food & water in the run and water only in the coop. As you can see, there is no single answer for everyone, you'll find out what works best for you.

    Thanks for joining us!
