I have 11 chickens. 3 Gold Orpingtons, 4 Golden Buffs, 2 Barred Rocks and 2 Easter Eggers. I can't let them free range due to predators. They are 2.5months old. Hatched Aug. 19. I curre tly feed them Dumor Finisher/Grower feed and I give them dried mealworms and whatever left over produce I may have. I've tried giving them a mix of seeds like sunflower pumpkin seeds, etc but they don't like it. I feed them 20oz of feed in the morning and night. And a handful of meal worms. They always act like they are starving. Is this not enough feed? I also saw they are having diarrhea and I read it's from too much protein. But they don't free range so I figured I could give them a little extra protein from the worms. This keeping chickens in a run is new to me. As a kid we had 40+ chickens that free ranged and never worried about their nutrition on my 5 acres. But. Bobcats and coons got to them.
