    Buying locally raised fruits and vegetables is one of the best ways to have confidence you’re promoting Food Justice instead of exacerbating Food Injustice by being a consumer of food raised unsustainably in conditions that exploit people, animals, and the earth. I applaud those of you who make sacrifices to support local farmers, spending more on food and less on movies or nail polish. Locally grown f...ood is often expensive. And for most low-income families, buying locally grown food isn’t even an option. They’re lucky to be able to buy food at all. But these times they are a changing, and the winds are blowing good news our way.

    Many Farmers’ Markets now offer discounts to SNAP customers (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly the Food Stamp Program).
