murry fuzzyies coming tuesday morning. My wife made me set up in the house. useing old hutch with wire bottom and catch tray. I've got cardboard on top of the wire now to protect little feet. How long should i keep putting it in. At what age are their feet in good enough shape and strength to be on that type of flooring?

Assuming 1/2 inch wire, there should be no problem as long as you can control the warmth. If the brooder is ever in an area where rats could be present, make sure the floor is high enough to keep rats from reaching the chicks toes.

Make sure the cardboard isn't slick because they can get spraddle leg if they can't get a grip. I used paper towels the first week then used shavings. Good Luck
