We have an injury! ****! And on their first day in the run! A piece of the hardware cloth around the door jam was sharp and sticking out and Blanche impaled the top of her foot on it! It was bleeding for a good while but I took all the necessary measures: applied pressure, peroxide, and liquid bandage, then wrapped it up best I could.
She's been terribly sweet about the whole thing. Held her for a long time wrapped in a towel while she slept. She's separated from the flock now. Eating and drinking normally. Hopefully she's ok. She is pecking at her bandage but hasn't been able to remove it thus far.
My first chicken emergency! (I did freak out a bit admittedly.)
Any further advice from you dear chicken folks?
