Ok i know birds have to mate and I guess I thought that the very brief jump aboard , squawk a little then jump off was the whole deal....I WAS WRONG!

My wife and son and I sat there in stunned silence after witnessing our rooster pecking a hen to get her to fall off the roost, then grab the hen by the neck, jump aboard and well there is no nice way to say this...he was shagging like his life depended on it! The whole thing took about 10-15 seconds, maybe a little longer. Sheesh when he was finished I got him his smoking jacket and pipe!

    Is this normal?

[IMG] I'm sorry...I couldn't help but laugh...but yeah, sounds pretty normal to me. Never had a roo actually kick a hen off the roost to do the deed, but they aren't exactly chivalrous about the whole thing, either.

Quote:Well if you push your wife off the roost and then only spend 10-15 seconds with her - you better be able to RUN really fast!
