I've had chicks for about 5 years and now I'm expanding my herd. I've got 7 production reds right now and I've just purchased 30 more chicks that I'm going to divide into layers and producers to propagate my population. I've recently built a nice coop 144" by 37" and I was brought to this site when I looked at plans for auto water and feed systems. This last year I thinned out my raccoon population in the neighborhood with a trap and relocate program and moved 7 that had decimated my prior herds of chickens - those thieves were hungry...every night. I have a few people at the office that purchase my fresh eggs and I get $3.00 dozen for them. I've made them all sign waivers to not tell the city on me. Looking forward to everyone's hints and tips.
