We just came home about 9:30 pm and found our little gamebird/sumatra hen dead. There was no sign of a struggle. She seemed fine when we left home around 6:30 pm. The only thing I can say that has seemed odd at all is that over the last two weeks she seemed to stay fluffed out a lot with her feathers. But we had a lot of cold weather come through so I didn't pay it a lot of attention. I know I have not found any eggs from her this week, but sometimes, she didn't always lay in the nesting box. She's not been laying more than 2 to 3 eggs a week over the last 2 months and she had totally stopped laying during the winter months. I was told that was normal for her breed. Does anyone have any ideas?

I would send her body for a necropsy to your State Vet if you really want a correct answer. It does not seem to take long to get an answer from them. If you check the sticky at the top of the page you will see the links.
