Hi, I am going to be gone for two days. My four week old and three and a half week old chicks are in an outside brooder. The weather has been in the low 70's. Should I keep the heat lamp on and have my relative, who will be feeding and checking on them, leave it on 24/7?

I have two adult pullets in a coop, but I am not ready for the chicks to go in the pen with the adults. One was pecked by the dominiant chicken today, so I think they should stay out of the coop until I return.
I am nervous about leaving them I guess. Any advice would be appreciated.

We just left our 3-4 week old chicks. Ours were always inside, but we left the light on 24/7 and just had a neighbor come over to check on them. It seemed to have worked just fine. They were as happy as when we had left.

I think I would leave the light on for them, they not completely feathered yet, yes have the one who will feed them keep and eye out. You knew the answer before you asked. Have a good day and try not to worry, they'll be happy to see you when you come back.
