Mosquito season has come early here this year, it seems. I have three hens raising a total of 14 chicks outside this spring, and I worrying about the chicks getting fowl pox. Has anyone ever had this happen? I'm thinking about vaccination.

My girls had dry pox last spring with the never ending rain we had last year. They bounced through it with no problems. I don't think I would vaccinate my girls, but it really is a matter of personal preference. If you are worried, then do it. Peace of mind is priceless.

Good luck.

I dealt with fowl pox a few years ago, it was a pain. It's your decision whether to vaccinate or not. Fortunately after they're exposed to the virus, they're immune to it thereafter.
