I am planning to put coop and run underneath a few trees as it might provide shade for the hens during the day. My only concern is foxes climbing the tree at night. I'm open to any advice that does not involve cutting down the tree itself. Thanks for your advice.

The guy from river cottage tv series did something similar but it was a high house to keep foxes out. I remember watching it on YouTube but not the details of how he did it. So you could try searching that.

Where are you located? As in are foxes the only predator near you? I'm sure I've read of birds also getting them in trees but not sure what type, owls maybe?

I'm living in Ireland so the main preditor for me is the red fox. Will look that up now. Thanks for the help

    Void where prohibited.
Maybe a tin wrapping around the trunk?

The only fox I know of that is adept at climbing is the Grey Fox and they are a New World species.

Thank you all for your advice. I will post a photo tomorrow of where I plan to put the run to give you a more detailed idea of what i'm doing.
