Hello, I am not a chicken mama as of yet, but hopeful to learn how others have gotten their local ordinances changed. I live on a smallish lot, just under an acre, but think a few hens could be comfortable here, if only I were allowed to have them. I see there are a number of people who have successfully affected change in their local ordinances and am going to give it a try. Any helpful advice welcome!

I know I'm not the only one in my area interested in this as a rooster was recently running down a neighbor's driveway.

Thanks for your reply.

It may or may not be up to date, but I found the city codified ordinances here: http://www.amlegal.com/codes/client/franklin_oh/ and the details about birds here: http://library.amlegal.com/nxt/gateway.dll?f=templates&fn=default.htm&vid=amlegal:franklin_oh_m in section 505.16. There are people not far from me that jeep them. Saw a rogue roo running down their driveway on the way to work a time or two but I'd rather not get them and then be off to a bad start with the city if they won't allow them.

You might be right though about calling them. Thank you

I did find something that said you can keep one small farm animal but it didn't specifically say chickens and it seems like it was one page of a larger documents. Hopefully they allow chickens. Good luck with building your flock.
