frayed wings on japanese

Not sure... is it because they are dragging them on the ground? Maybe deep soft litter. Else it's like the feather legged birds who break them all off unless they are caged or on soft grass all the time.
 
they drag on the ground-my cochins feather feet are ok but the japanese wings are poor shape

It goes with being that close to the ground-no matter how deep the litter you'll get frayed wings. Judges understand this if that's your concern.
