Free Choice Oyster Shells

I've put a bowl or free choice oyster shells in my coop and it seem like my chicken is eating it like food. She has layer pellets and I try to give her a couple of hours of free range time a day. She is a polish and isn't a heavy layer anyway. Should I take it away and restrict how much she gets? I just seems like she is eating a lot.

I wonder if she's maybe not finding enough grit and is using the shell for that?
