Looking to rehome three 8-week-old Faverolle cockerels. I paid extra to have them sexed... Clearly someone was having a bad day 'cause I ended up with 4 boys, 4 girls, instead of 8 girls.

- Purchased from Cackle Hatchery on June 19, 2017
- On medicated feed
- Not vaccinated
- Friendly and chatty

I'm in Lamoille County, Vermont. I'd be happy to transport within a reasonable distance.

I have some sixteen week old Silkie roosters that need a new home as well. Let me know if you're interested in either or both.

Thanks!

Dear Mr. Ramsbottom,
I am interested in keeping rare and threatened breeds of poultry. Might I see a few photographs of your Salmon favarolles for sale? I am located in South Eastern, PA, near Hershey.

I actually have one Salmon favarolle cockerel and pullet. I ordered 2 pullets from McMurray and they mis-sexed the one. Not bad though, because I do have a breeding pair, but as to the quality of my breeding pair... well, I can't be certain yet. But his coloration is a bit too mottled yet for my idea of a quality Favarolles roo.

Any pics? :pop

That's interesting to know about Cackle. I have wanted to drive there instead of the closer hatchery we use, (Estes in Springfield) thinking Cackle is higher quality. But our local hatchery, which has much less variety to offer, has had 100% accurate sexing for us. So far...
Good luck on finding homes for the boys....

This was my first batch of Faverolles so I'm not sure what a quality Faverolle would be.

Thanks, SueT. I'd love to be able to keep them all, but it's just not possible at this point. I have 11 boys. And most of them are hitting puberty so it's kind of miserable in the yard right now.

I understand about the misery and cockerels coming into hormones. I have several roo flocks. :barnie:hmm :he Just like with real people, some chickens go through puberty easily and others have a hard time.

If you find your way closer to WV, they can have a forever home here. :) Free ranging from 6:30 am to 8 pm. Time varies depending on the weather. The majority of my roo's get along with everyone else, including the other roo flocks. I have two roo's that severe eye sight problems, so they are in an uncovered run together. Their own room in the Roo Barn. Lots of love, exercise, and happiness.

They look to be about the same age as mine, and most are identical to my little Raphael. I'll have to see how he blossoms out after the first molt to really understand his quality.
This is my first experience with Favarolles.

Hi Sara,
I was really hoping to start a rooster flock with all of my boys, but it's just not great timing. I have two ongoing, back-to-back family emergencies and my employer is restructuring so it's been a really difficult summer. If I had a way to get my boys to WV, I'd be there in a heartbeat. I have reached out to every farmer, backyard chicken keeper and animal sanctuary I can think of, and no one is interested. *head desk*

It's "easy" and "challenging" to have a rooster flock. You would have the "easy" time since they have lived together. :)

Besides life happening, which it does, what's holding you back?

Are you able to keep the roos separated from the regular flock? Separate sleeping quarters? If yes, easy-peasy!

As for hormones...you can give the guys middle names of Crockpot. But remember, this will pass. And even in the midst of hormones, the guys can have good days that make you smile. Things will settle down when they are about a year old. Time flies by!

Have you contacted the local 4-H's? They will sometimes accept animals and care for them. Worth a try. I'm pretty confident that there will be some 4-H clubs between you and me. :)

If you are still looking in a week or two, send me an email. I can't leave the ranch for too long (animals free range & I believe my presence deters some predators) but maybe we can work something out.
