Free Ranginig Ducks?

Should we free range our ducks? they have been kept in their pen since baby's, not even left it. they have been laying for about 3 months now. Will they come back every night? thanks

We have Muscovy ducks that free range 24/7 (predators are definitely an issue for such a setup though). We've never had an issue with them wandering far.
We also live in the forest with no neighbors for 1/4 mile though.... might be different if you have neighbors close by. But you can always clip their wings to help keep them close.
