    I just called my local lowes the manager said it's some kind of spruce or pine sapling. he wasn't sure which. I'm not interested unless it's a cedar or long leaf pine, or fruit tree.

    sounds like a deal and plant it somewhere like in the chicken yard...so one day they have another shade tree and DH can roll his eyes at me some more [​IMG] I live to get that roll from him but I still think my chickies would love a new tree in their yard.
    [​IMG] Thanks for posting this I had heard about it but totally forgot about it....old age ya know.

    I planted a fig tree in the chicken run this spring. they will get a nice shade tree and will get treats later
