Do you think the ducks are smart enough to not sleep in their pool when it's cold enough to freeze? Will they get frozen in?

I want to know this too. We have a small pond that I want to put ducks on at some point.

Awesome question! Wouldn't their body heat keep the water immediately around them open?

Is it a swimming/kiddie pool or an actual pond? Unless the temps drop very quickly, the ducks being in it should keep it from freezing. My ducks are on a pond, and they are always on the water when it is very cold. They kept it from freezing over completely last winter, which made the horses (and my dad [IMG]) very happy [IMG]
