French Black Copper Marans with very little copper

she is great in all the area I can see ,but her eyes are not pure orange .they are not brown or marbled .
love her body type and her copper quality .gorgeous tail too .

Should I breed her to one of her brothers next year after she's about a year and a half old? If there is a brother with the same solid body type, which traits should I look for in the rooster?

I am shocked that my one is too dark. I’ve been told marans can range from maroon to much lighter colors. You just don’t want straw colored.

this cockerel has a best body color ,most complete .his hackle is a little golden at the base { not sure if the sun is causing it ?}

I do not recommend breeding sibling at the start .except if they are stunning or I m breeding a fault out .

No. She's from a dozen mail order hatching eggs where there were seven pullets and four cockerels. A small breeder I buy from got them to experiment with a new breed project where he was formerly using Wheatens or Bielefelders, and Cream Legbars. He's trying to get feather color, green eggs, and auto-sexing. She was extra to his program. I have some of his crosses and he will let me breed them back.

they loo alright to me .the standing pullet with coppery hackle is stunning for sure .true marans head and lovely body type .
