chickens. One of my chickens favorite teats is minnows. I am not kidding. My chickens love them!!! Just buy some live minnows at a local bait shop and feed them to your chickens. If you do try I would like to know how it goes!!! I thought I should share this with my fellow BYCers. [IMG]

Quote:lots of people feed fish meal, fish are fine.

only thing about the bait minnows though, is that since they are not normally grown for human consumption bad things may be allowed into their feed.

I can't help feeling a bit sorry for the minnows. At least the chickens would be happy!

Fish can make for fishy tasting eggs.

Quote:Years ago, I lived in England and found out the hard way that they feed their chickens (or did when I was there) primarily fish. I learned b/c I bought a chicken and smelled a funny smell in thehouse when I was cooking it. At first, I didn't realize it was fish; I thought I bought a bad chicken! Or screwed up the cooking; I was a newlywed then. Only later did I learn it was due to the chickens being fed fish!

I never bought another English chicken. Instead, I bought chicken only on base (my husband was in the Air Force then) shipped over from the states...
