Heyo!!

Got a chick I’m curious (re: paranoid) about!! Went out at 8a to let the bigger girls out of their run and this girl had her tail down and her crop looked larger then normal. Everyone else on her side of the run has a normal crop for it being 8a. I picked her up (which is weird since she’s the flightiest of the bunch) and felt her crop and it doesn’t seem like it’s filled with water.

Could she just have had a big breakfast? The chicks are on medicated chick starter still (Theyre 3mo) I’m gonna pull her inside to watch her for a little bit and give her some water with AVC in it too so I can make sure she’s eating and drinking. She did poop and it looks fine. She’s chirping for her siblings and looking alert and around as well.

Hopefully she’s just full and I’m just being an over concerned chicken mom. I just lost a hen a couple days ago.

If she is chirping and alert and pooping normally then I wouldn’t be too worried but watching her is a good idea if you think something is wrong. You can watch to see if her crop empties out overnight. Chickens with sour crop often also emit a vomit smell. I am sorry about the hen you lost :hugs.
