Thought of an an insult not to stop here, do yall stop where yall are?

I always stop. That guy wasn't paying attention!

I had a guy almost take me out at my grandfathers funeral procession. We have to have our headlights turned on and our flashers.

A couple years ago I felt bad. I was going by a cemetery and there was a funeral going on, normally I slow down in respect but did not see them until it was too late. I felt less then an inch tall.

I never knew you were supposed to stop for funeral processions. Maybe a regional thing? I guess you don't see too many of them around where I live. That guy had no business swerving into oncoming traffic, he could have flashed his lights or something to that effect. That being said the trucker was obviously not paying attention. I suspect he will have to pay up in the end.

I haven't seen a funeral procession in decades. (except on TV) Maybe it is a regional thing.
I looked up the rules here- Apparently unless there is a Police Officer directing traffic, processions are regular traffic and expected to follow all traffic laws.

Imp- glad the guy on the motorcycle is OK.

As I understand, TN has no laws on the subject but Chattanooga has a law saying you cant stop.

Dont know about AL..

In Ga you will get a ticket for not stopping.. The law debatably does not really say you have to so you can fight it but you will get a ticket for not stopping.

They are always escorted here by the way.



The comments on that story is what gets me... They blame the guy that got hit for stopping... The ones in front of him were stopped, he could have got around but still... The fact is that it does not matter why he stopped, the dodge truck should be in control of his truck an be able to stop cause other traffic did..


The guy trying to block traffic though was dumb, not a surprise though cause as I said, not stopping is an insult here.

regardless why a vehicle stops most all states have laws that state something to the effect you are at fault if you where negligent in not watching the car in front of you and you hit it. Some laws are poorly written so you are backed into while you are at a stop light for instance you are at fault even if you can't back up and the guy in front of you slams on the gas in reverse.... also in my area they have a police or private escort that has lights simmilar to a police car/cycle at the intersection just prior to the accident so anyone approaching if you know it is a funeral prosession or not will recognose something is going on by the vehicle with flashing lights and will hopefully have enough brains to at least slow down if not stop.

I see them about once a week since we live near a veterans cem. We pass on the second lane,remove our hatss/caps should we wear one and say a little prayer. (we usually pass them on the
Hwy)

In Illinois the law says that a funeral procession can not run a red light unless a "marked lead car" has stopped the traffic to make them aware. Only yellow lights on lead cars and hearses can be used in Illinois...NO red. Pulling over for respect is at your own risk and should be done in a safe area...NO stopping on the road.

Just pay attention and proceed slowly if possible...no law that you have to pull over and stop.
