Funny question about my Polish hen.

Is it ok for me to put a small scrunchy or something around the base of her crest so that she can see better? I feel like her vision is very impaired by the way her crest feathers grow.

Yes you can have a go at doing this but don't do it too tight as this can cause irritation to their crest. They can also get these off quite easily so it's a balancing act of not too tight but enough to keep it in place. You can also use tape, here is a video I found most helpful ~

If all else fails and she is struggling you could trim the feathers with scissors. I have resorted to this wth a few of mine. If your not too fussed about the looks it works great.

Thanks for the tips. Currently she runs around in a very sporadic fashion, hence my theory and the vision issues. Also she gets easily startled when she doesn't notice something until it's very close up, such as my feet or the dog. I'm sure this will help.
