Last week my neice pulled a tiny kitten out from under a car at Wal-mart. The kitten was dirty, covered in fleas and ticks and LOUD. We waited for 23 minutes in the heat for the owners of the car to leave so we could ask them if the kitten was theirs. It wasn't. For the last week we 've been trying to find a home for Patches, who turned out to be a cute very laid back kitten. Last night I noticed a bare patch of skin on her neck with a hole in it. I cleaned it and applied some TAO. Tonight I went to doctor it again and noticed something MOVED inside the hole (about the size of a pencil lead). I got my husband to come look at it. To make a long story short we pulled a live WORM/GRUB out of her neck. I googled it the grub is called a cuterebra and we should not of removed it ourselves. Tomorrow we'll have to go to a vet and get some antibiotics due to the fact that pieces left in the "breatheing hole " can cause infection. UGH!!!!!!

Had a Tibetan Terrier once who had one in his side, the grub CAN segment and cause huge problems with infections and even death BUT if you were lucky enough to get it all a little TLC and some good antibiotic, the kitten should be good as new in no time! Glad she found you guys to take of her so well!

Was it Black?! I have seen several squirels around with them. I pulled a dead squirrel out of my parents pool when I was house sitting for them, that had drowned. It was COVERED with them.(musta comitted suicide,LOL) I dug one out and it was about the size of the first segment of my thumb! It was black and had rings of brisly hair around it's body. I took it to a friend of mine that is an Entomologist. He said it was a BOT FLY maggot! Aparently they are common here and generally only attack squirrels and other small animals. But CAN on occasion get on people! Y-U-C-K!! **jiggles with the heebie geebies**

Blech!!!!

I had to google it because I can't stop the curiosity, and I think I may jsut be grossed out enough to forego the chocolate I was about to go get....that's saying a lot.

I won't be able to unclench my butt for a while.

I have seen one of the bot fly larvae on a cat many years ago and I just got chills remembering!!!! I am gonna have nightmares tonight!!!! So few things really creep me out......I seriously have chill bumps all over that aren't going away!!!!!!
