My DH wants to build a gasifier and has found several plans on the internet. Has anyone built one? Any suggestions on do's and don'ts? Thanks!! [IMG]

A gasifier is a device that converts a biomass into methane using heat or a chemical process.... I think I was born a gasifier.[IMG]

I'm disappointed! I thought there'd be a ton of gasifier people out there in chicken land! [IMG]

Well I've made lump charcoal before and the by-product of that is gasification. It's a pretty low tech process involving a small barrel with holes in the bottom loaded with wood chunks suspended inside a larger barrel. Once the fire is built inside the larger barrel and the wood in the smaller barrel gets up to temp. the methane starts blowing out the holes in the bottom of the small barrel. It will soon ignite and actually feed the fire. It sounds like a jet with the afterburners lit.

So many projects, so little time. I might give it a try this spring.
