    Hi all,
Thank you for this great site! I have learned a lot from all the posts! It is very hot and humid here in Sydney at present! This is probably the cause of my chickens not laying! I learned that from reading posts on here! Thank you [IMG]

G'day and welcome to Backyard chickens. BYC has a large Aussie community - the more the merrier. And "Australia, six states and one funny little Island," thread.

So glad you joined us [IMG] Heat can cause chickens to slow down or stop laying. They need lots of shade (real or manufactured), lots of fresh cool water. You can also put water in shallow pans, so the chickens can stand in them. Cool feet = cool bird.

A fan and lettuce served in ice water helps.

    Howdy neighbour [IMG] Welcome!

I hope you enjoy BYC. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends [IMG]
