I say PULLET, Too Dark to be a Roo... , I mean we are looking at a Barred Rock right? We have Barred Rocks and all of them but the roo are dark like this one here... our roo is lighter on the colouring of the feathers...

Yep, I agree ... pullet. The cockerel cuckoo marans chicks are lighter colored than she is.

sorry my bad... I just looked here and it appears to be a HEN... just like BR 's the roo for CM is lighter in the feather colouring..

Yay! I'm so glad we've got a majority vote for pullet! That means I can keep it, yay! But pooh, i was hoping to trade for a silkie. Lol

I don't have marans, but I tend to agree with ChickenLittle - the comb & wattles are kind of big for most 8 week old pullets - I think it's more likely to be a roo (if it is definitely 8 weeks old).
