Hi Everyone, I have 3-week old chicks and I would love to know their gender and also their breed. They have been hatched by myself but since I don't know the parents breed I don't know theirs either... I may not know their breed but I assure you they are the same breed or mixed breed. I first thought they were red sex link, however, I have hatched 10 eggs in total and only 1 has been red... These are the chicks: <-- I am guessing a roo <-- I am guessing a hen <-- I am guessing a hen, but it might be a boy... <-- I am guessing a hen <-- I am guessing a hen... These are their parents (it may help with guessing the breed and the sex of the chicks)
First one is definitely a roo. As for the others I would say hens. I can't help you with the breed though. Sorry! Good luck!
One is a rooster, agreed Two and Four look to be pullets Three and Five...wait on...those combs are pretty developed with Three looking a bit rosy. I agree. Dad looks to be a White Rock. The closest hen is a Red Sex Link in the photo, with the hen behind her possibly one as well as I can see some white on her. Or the back two may be Production Reds. What you will get are wonderful mixed breed layers. Nice little flock. LofMc
You are most likely right with your guesses, the roo looks like a White Rock and the hen looks like an ISA Brown. ISA Browns, or Red Sex Links are generally crossed with a Rhode Island Red and a Rhode Island White.
I was wondering if my Wyandotte is a rooster or hen. They are almost 5 months old. I'm thinking a rooster.
That's the coloring of a rooster for SLW...his color is blocked rather than laced....and I think I see the start of some saddle feathers. LofMc
