Gender guesses on this Lavender Orpington chick?

I took these pics today, 10/17/21. The chick turned 5 weeks old yesterday. Any gender guesses?

Where did the chick come from? Looks more splash. Definitely not lavender.

So far it looks like a pullet. It's still quite early though. Update in a few more weeks.

I don't see splash but a lighter lavender color. I have had some that have been very pale in color. Not a breeder I would use that light.

At 5 weeks, I see a slight comb and wattles peeking out. Fairly thicker legs and slow feather growth around the neck and back. I'm leaning male. 3 weeks and you'll know for sure.

It does not appear Lavender to me.

I'll try to get a newer picture of this guy so you can see. Here he is at 6 and 1/2 weeks. He's now coming up on 4 months and visually looks darker to me. He was fairly light, but the green grass contrasts his body and makes him look a little darker. Maybe try taking a few shots of your little one on a darker background like grass.

Yes, @kurby22 , your lavender babies do look like the ones that @5 Points Wingfeather posted. Interesting. What do they look like now? And how old are they?

They are almost 8 months old now! Eevee is my good boy and his brother Gibbs (green backdrop picture) now has his own ladies to take care of his owner sends updates because my daughter sobbed when we had to rehome him. It’s hard getting so attached!

Yet, now, with the comments left on the pics of my chick from more experienced peeps here on BYC, I’m hearing that this chick doesn’t look like a Lavender.

Well, let's remember that lavender orps aren't recognized in the SOP, so there is no true definition of what the color should look like on orpingtons. I think your chicks are lavender the way the breeder thinks lavender should be.

Wait....whaaaaat??? NOT a Lavender Orpington chick????

I wouldn't panic yet. It could be the lighting. Like I said earlier, I see orpington and I see a light lavender showing. I would say for now your baby is indeed lavender, just lighter than usually seen.

My splash looks like this today, I’ve read they get darker splotches after their first molt. She’s a pretty girl.
