Hi BYC, I have day old chicks and I'm trying to see if anyone is able to tell the gender of them by their wings. Thank you! :)

Unless they were deliberately bred for feather sexing, there is no way to tell males from females by feather growth.

what about vent sexing ? Does it work on them? And if it's a male there will be a bump right ?

Vent sexing shouldn't be attempted unless you are very experienced. Perhaps Junebuggena has some more info though :)

Vent sexing can be very reliable, if you know what you are doing. But it is not easy. Just to give you an idea how difficult it can be take a look at this graphic.

Those images are many times the actual size of the vents of day old chicks.

Thank you so much! I've watched many videos on how too, but I don't want to hurt the little babies :( I guess I will wait until they grow older
