When does a cockerel reach full maturity?

Adam has grown in size, behavior, and personality, and he's a surprising gentleman. He watches over the flock, shows the girls where all the good food/treats are, digs dust baths and leaves them vacant for his leading ladies, and he enjoys dancing around them and preening.

It's always so much fun to watch.

I'd love to hear about other good roos! What do your boys do?!
So many roosters have bad reputations. I wanna hear the good things! Don't be shy on stories or pictures!

What a stunning bird Adam is :love

I cannot say enough good things about our huge boy, Ellis. He is a massive bird and SUCH a stately gentleman. He cares for his two Icelandic hens wonderfully, and when they are let out to free range a bit while we do barn chores, he helps herd them back in after! He finds the best treats for them, they have the highest roost, etc. He is a bird I was given for free with some rabbits I bought and I wouldn't trade him for anything!

    We adore our little Blueberry!

He does everything he is supposed to do as a roo with the added bonus of being a pet. He allows us to pick him up, pet him, and carry him around. He tidbits for the girls, alerts to things flying over, and is a gentleman when mating. He is leader of the pen even though he is the littlest of four cockrels in that flock. We think he is the most beautiful OEGB ever!

What a handsome little bird! I have two blue OEGB that are likely pullets... I wish I had a nice little blue roo to compliment them!

Two of my boys (father 3 years and son 7 months) ,
    Fred and Fredson (how original)
Both are generally of gentle nature and get on well , Fred is very friendly and comes up to you and doesn’t mind being handled , fredsons getting there , but generally not aggressive in any form

We have a young one that we got at TSC hoping it would be a girl. No such luck. You could have him for free if we weren't totally across the country from each other! We will eventually pen him with just our old english bantams and our one buff laced seabright, who at 8 months, still has not shown is it is a definite boy or girl. We have two silver duckwings, one bb red, one spangled, one red pyle to go with our boy. Maybe next year we will get a pullet to match.

Cochins are the best! I love my bantams- just don't have room for the standards. Your boys are very handsome fellas.

I have 2 handsome Ameraucana roos. The lavender is double the size of the darker one.
The lavender's name is Eli and the darker one is Amelio. They are polar opposites. Lol. Eli is laid back and a gentleman with the ladies and Amelio takes what he wants. Eli is protective of the flock and Amelio sort of watches things happen. He's not not protecting the ladies but he's a wait and see kinda guy.
I love them both and think they are the best guys ever!!!

We got our from TSC too! And a little golden Sebright.
