get me a chicken!

ok, so my mum wont let me get some chickens(2-3)these are the reasons why-they smell(?), they get straw/bedding all over the garden(?), they will ruin the grass(?) can anyone tell my how to fix these problems or if they are true?

I commend you for not wanting to give up and try to overcome your Mom's objections. Here are some benefits. Hope this helps.

1. Chicken poop is good for the garden.
2. When a garden area needs turned over between crops the chickens will do this for her.
3. Straw is good for the garden but you can use pine shavings which will go in the compost for her garden. I use straw and put it in the compost;
4. They can be kept in a run so they don't ruin the grass, however, if there is already a dirty area for them to scratch in; I haven't found this to be a problem;
5. They eat grass so they help keep the grass mowed; and
6. The eggs are delicious!
