Say my incubator holds 30 eggs. My chicks are giving me 5 eggs aday. How to I go about getting the 30? Or do i need 30 eggs aday to fill the incubator?

    hi,

based on some posts here in BYC, you can collect eggs and store them prior to incubation.
eggs are best incubated when fresh, but 1-7 day old eggs will hv a good hatching rate also. some say even up to 10 days, but the fresher they are, the better.
meaning to say, you can pick up eggs everyday, for say 6 days @ 5 eggs each day, then put all 30 eggs into the incubator at one time.
(you can also do staggered incubation, but not a good way to do it, IMHO)
i suggest you search 'storing eggs' to find threads on this subject with the experts' opinions.

I tried searching. I get a ton of post and only came across one about quail eggs. I know the threads are there but lost at least with the search terms ive used.

I set eggs once a week from my hens. Usually I set eggs on Saturday. So Sunday thru Saturday I am setting eggs aside in an egg carton so I can put them in the incubator on Saturday night. I have even gone two weeks before I put eggs in the incubator and have had success hatching them.
