Hello guys!!! I disappeared a little while ago. First my bank was hacked and then my email. Next thing I knew, I had no access to any accounts. This took so long to solve and stop. Anyways, were back now! We've done so much other than changing passwords and securing browsers!!!

We took Gil out on the kayak for the first time! I couldn't get pictures but she liked it except when she jumped off and was in the freezing cold water. It took a minute to convince her to get back in and about another 10 to actually get her in! She loved kayaking but she didn't like being on the water with the kayak's coming towards her. Anyways, she enjoyed it!

We also took her to some local ponds, rivers etc. We also took her out to the creek in the backyard some more! I guess by now you have guessed, the weather is warming back up! It is amazing! I am so excited that I can continue taking Gil out with me everywhere. This will be even easier soon because @MarlyMonster is making Gil a custom ducky harness! They are available for purchase on her etsy store. I will make a whole post about it once I get mine so you guys can see how AWESOME they are! It's awesome because now I can continue to take Gil everywhere and I can have the leash attached just in case. Now I never have to worry! Not to mention, I heard some talk of a possible diaper attachment. Headed to the vet? or are you like me and just headed out with your duck? A 2-in-1 harness diaper is just the thing we have been waiting for!

When we were at the pond, Gil attracted a wild mallard. He got really curious over Gil and came onto land to check her out. He convinced Gil to step away from us for a minute and hop into the Lake. She did a good amount of swimming and after about 2 minutes, she hopped out. While she was swimming she did very tight circles in front of us. She still follows us all along trails and through hikes. I couldn't be happier than when I am on a nature walk with Gil! It is the sweetest, most perfect thing.

Every day has been some kind of adventure whether in the house or outside. This summer will be Gil's first birthday and I am so busy planning it! I have no clue what were doing yet, but it will be awesome. I'll have to make a duck cake too.

Gil still lay's 1 egg a day for the most part! She's been behaving really well! She stays in her pen when I put her in there but she's still usually given the option to just walk around. She loves doing anything now that the weather is a bit better. I am sure you guys remember, she HATES the cold! At night if the window is open, she will stay up quacking. She doesn't like the cold breeze either!

Out of all that time I was gone, we only had 1 moment where I may have questioned my ability to parent a duck. We had an awesome day and it was later than normal for us to be getting home at night. It was dark and we were walking in from the car. Gil didn't jump up on the porch like she normally does so I lifted her up and she hopped inside. I picked her up once we were inside wondering if maybe she were more tired than normal. I saw blood all over me after I picked her up and panicked quickly. Luckily, Luke (Gil's dad), ran over and was like no big deal! Her dew claw nail had broken off a little and claws always bleed like the ocean for some reason. It was certainly one of those paper cut types of cuts that bleeds a lot and you think you just cut your finger off but you cleaned it up and realized it was literally nothing. I didn't have any quick stop on hand though so I was stuck holding Gil for half an hour trying to apply pressure. Eventually I just used medical tape and gauze which kept it clean and dry until the morning. I had also put neosporn on to stop infections. Gil is fine, I was probably more upset when I saw blood than Gil was ever. Now I know, KEEP QUICK STOP ON HAND!!!!!!!!

Gil and I were so happy to come back and see that e had a Friend badge waiting! How awesome, we love and missed you guys so much!

BTW, Her pen is ... not done yet! Why would we have a permeant solution for that yet? I've only been waiting like... how long? NO BIG DEAL OR ANYTHING! I'LL KEEP WAITING! Right now it has a tarp on the floor and wall with her blankets over top. She still uses her house to lay her eggs and enjoys sleeping next to the boots!

Here's what everyone was waiting for!!! Gil's World!

And she met a goose at the creek! The goose had dirty intentions though so Gil and I weren't a fan!

Gil enjoys hanging out

I forgot to mention, her wild mallard mate was missing half of the top of his bill and I was SOOO sad for him! He was eating and drinking perfectly fine though :(

I have a question- If she is an indoor duck, don't you have to worry about messes? I would love to have indoor chickens(my parents wouldn't approve, of course) but I'm wondering how you deal with that.
I have to change her blankets out every other day. Then I have to wash them and repeat the process! It's a lot of hard work but it pays off with how close of a bond we have! She also wears a diaper but very rarely. Mostly on holiday's when she goes to family's house with us! If she's in the car she's on a towel. The towel get's washed too. I tried puppy pads but she tries to eat them so that doesn't work!

Puppy pads only work when they are little, sadly.
My First Aid kit:
Quick stop
Neosporin (not the pain reliever kind)
Vaseline
Vetericyn spray
Iodine
Popsicle sticks
5 ml syringes without the needle
Alcohol
Preparation H
Monistat 3
Coconut oil
Guaze
Waterproof tape
Self adhesive tape
Tweezers
Thermometer
Baby aspirin
Benadryl
Corid
Fish Mox
Fish Doxy

That's what's in mine right now. I'm always trying to add more.
