A friend who is moving gave me three hens. I have a small flock of three (1 speckled sussex hen, 1 mixed hen, 1 sebright mix bantam rooster) who I will be introducing them to. When asked the hens' breeds, he knew only that his girlfriend bought them as chicks at Southern States. I'm guessing they're some kind of production red & white, but I'd like to know for sure. I can add more pictures if the attached isn't descriptive enough. [IMG]

The two on the left are red sex link, not sure about the white, maybe a white rock.

The two on the left are definitely Red Sex Link hens. I can't the legs of the white one on the right, but if they are yellow, she is a White Rock. Red Sex Links are laying machines. You should get loads of eggs from those two girls.)

Thanks everyone! The legs of the white hen are not yellow, they are tan or cream- the same color as the red hens.

I agree Red Sex Links for the two red hens; and I still think the white one is hatchery quality White Rock...she has red earlobes...leg color varies dependent upon laying...if she has been laying, her legs will look paler.

I think Lady of McCamley is probably correct in her explaination of the white one's legs and that it is probably a hatchery quality White Rock. I would however like to see a close up pic of the legs in good light.

The red birds are Red Sex-links, and the white hen is probably a hatchery quality White Rock.

I think you guys are right. I've attached a picture showing the coloring of the white hen's legs. Thanks for your help![IMG]

Thanks for the pic. She's definitely a hatchery quality White Rock.
