My girls will be locked in their henhouse at night and let out first thing. Do i need to put water and food in the coop for overnight? Or can I leave it outside for them?

I know some people don't leave out food and water overnight, but I do. I really don't think they touch it, when it is dark out- but they can have a snack and a drink before I let them out in the am. Since they won't overeat (assuming you don't have meaties), why not keep the food available? Enjoy!

I guess the only reason not to is to save room inside the henhouse. I could just get smaller containers for inside, I suppose.

I leave the food inside all the time so that when the coop is locked at night the varmints don't eat it. Water outside so that it doesn't spill and create a stinky situation. I don't think chickens get up in the night for drinks and snacks---
