8 month old Barred Rock was given to me with a broken leg. Apparently it has been broken for about 2 weeks. The leg was never splinted or anything. I started putting together a sling and I am about to give her an epsom salt soak....then should I splint the leg and then put her in the sling? She eats well, the leg does have some mobility.[IMG]

Here is the sling in progress.

Can you share a photo of her leg currently?

    Thank you for the photo...

Am I seeing that the break is up in the femur? Or is that her hip area? Is that swelling?

    Can she walk at all?

It looks like she has gotten an infection on the femur area of her leg....thats the side she has been laying on....and the poop was just horribly dried and stuck to her....she was laying in it.

She does have some mobility of her leg...in her tibia, fibula and lower leg.

So it's broken below her hock, is what I'm reading? A sling would definitely work and give her some relief off the leg.

Do you feel like it could be a slipped tendon? Is there any swelling?

    What about this infection? :(
