I traded for a BR roo and I am planning on giving him my 2 BR hens.

I am planning to hatch the eggs for meat/egg use.

Is there anything I need to watch out for when I transfer the two hens from the flock to the new roo?
These two birds are the top of the pecking order with the current group.

Quote:I would keep them in a seperate pen so they can get used seeing to each other for about 5 days or so. Hens at the top of the pecking order like to be at the top of the pecking order and wont tolerate a stranger taking over...there could be some initial fighting for a couple of days, but if the roo is persistant, he will win out and he will be at the top of the pecking order, then everything will work out. Keep an eye on them for the first couple of days after you put them together to prevent serious injury if it comes to that.
