I plan to give my incredibly broody silkie some chicks this evening. I'm puttting them in a smaller coop away from the main flock so the bigger girls dont get them. Should i still put a lamp in the coop in case any cant find mama in the dark? Ive never done this before.

All you have to do is put the chicks under her at night(So they bond with her all night) but watch her reaction to the chicks. They don't need a heat lamp because the mom is a portable heater already. Just watch her for a while to make sure everything is Okay.
Is your silkie sitting on eggs? And how old are the chicks you will give her?

7 chicks is perfect for her!!!
As long as they are under 3 days old, they will imprint to her.
Just try it tonight and see what happens

They are adorable!!! They will be perfect for your hen.
Are they skittish when you try to pick one up? Or do they just stand there?
