it would seem to imply glass is an important element, but is it just glass or a composite of some sort?

hey, thanks for taking the time to research it. I just emailed www.myamishgoods.com who use it in their coops... hope they respond. I am revamping a retired storage shed that had plywood floors, would love something waterproof for washing down as needed.

you know a lot of folks here use linoleum on the floor. it is waterproof and is a slick enough surface that the poop just washes off pretty easily or if dried on makes for a quick scrape off the floor. I would look at that. Its a very cheap solution if you get remnant from a flooring store.

I think it is some sort of fiberglass board. Like something that is on the walls on a public restroom like panelling. Not 100% sure though.

Excellent question. I have wondered the same thing after reading probably the same advertisement. I look forward to the answer to your email.

It's called FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic). Lowes or Home Depot has it. I can't find it on their website but I've seen it in every store.
It is near pegboard in the store. It is about 1/8 inch thick and waterproof. Shower stalls are made of it. Comes in a 4' x 8' sheet.

the email from, "myamishgoods" as noted above:

"Glassboard floor reminds me of a textured formica. It adds an extra layer of protection to the wood floor and makes it easier for clean out. - Since it is textured it is not slippery for the chickens. I make it standard in all my coops because I can't imagine not having it. Your coop will be more durable with this on the floor. "

thanks for the great info so far!
