You know the BEST part? It's ALWAYS awesome to collect them! I've had chickens for a few years now, and I just can never get over how much I enjoy collecting eggs!

Congrats on your first eggs. As Wynette said, collecting eggs never gets old. They are each a tiny marvel.

    thanks, guys.

as for who did it, they ain't sayin ... my bet's on the barred rocks, since it was two days in a row and there's two of 'em and they've always been busy bodies. i have a hunch they were laid in the evening...when do chickens lay, anyway??

Quote:A chicken will lay about every 25 hrs. So every day you should expect them to lay an hour later than the previous day. Once it gets late into the evening, they'll sometimes stop and start a new schedule the next day.
With new laying hens their schedule can be erratic. Ex: lay two days in a row, take a day off or one every other day. It varies with each hen.

thanks gritsar. it's fun going through all the firsts with chickens. like the first dust bath when it looks like they are writing in their death throes, but it's just chicken ecstasy!

So happy for you. It is very eggciting isn't it? Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
