I have 6 chicks, roughly 3 weeks old, who current call a large dog crate turned brooder home sweet home. I live in Kansas and besides the always annoying wind our temps are finally starting to climb a little higher. Since I still have no coop and no run I'm going to create a temporary 4'x2'x2' enclosed run that can be very easily stored and moved so my chicks can start getting out of the brooder. I plan on using my tent tie downs to keep it held to the ground.
My chicks are turning me into a handy-woman lol I've actually been enjoying it but I have ZERO building experience so I'm quite the fish out of water. This morning I cut the boards I'm using to create the pen, hand saw of course lol no way I'm going near a power tool. Besides the fact that it's a little hard to clean, their brooder has worked very well for them. Now I can't take all the credit for the brooder but I did put the chicken wire on all by myself
