Hi everyone
I know I’m being impatient, but any early guesses as to my Gold Partridge Brahma chick’s sex? He/she is just over 4 weeks old. Sadly it was the only chick to hatch under my broody from a very expensive dozen eggs I bought so hoping it’s a pullet but it’s feathering really slowly so on that alone I’m guessing cockerel. Any tips on feathering patterns on a partridge I can look out for?

I hatched 12 “gold partridge” (also expensive) eggs in Aus and at 4 weeks I found it impossible to know what gender was what based on SO much research (I’m not experienced in Brahma though). By 8 weeks at least it’s more obvious. I found the pullet tails feather way faster and the blokes mostly stayed fuzzy on their head for longer. But…I have 12 to compare and wanting to know and having to wait is not a very helpful answer sorry!

Like Rhodebar Lover said, id agree its likely a pullet although its still early days. If you go by the feathering, in pullets the pattern is consistent all over whereas Cockerels the pattern becomes broken and you'll see more black coming through as they get older, particularly on the underside. Here is a pic of my bunch who are 6 weeks old. Out of 7 hatched, only 1 is a male so i got lucky with the sex ratio.
